Truck Attack Kills More Than 80; Injures Hundreds In Nice, France

The seaside of Nice, France became the horrifying scene of another terrorist attack when a 31-year old driver plowed a commercial through a crowd attending the Bastille Day festivities at the Promenade des Anglais. The man, identified as Tunisian-born Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel was eventually gunned down by the police, but not before he ran over and killed 84 people, including at least 10 children, and injured hundreds more.

French authorities identified Bouhlel as a convicted criminal who was in criminal court as recently as March 2016. Despite this disturbing revelation, Bouhlel had no links to any terrorist organization and was not under surveillance. Regardless of his connections, or lack there of, his actions have been deemed by French president Francois Hollande as a terrorist attack.

The horrifying attack just before 11 P.M. local time on Thursday, July 14. Thousands of spectators had gathered at the Promenade des Anglais for the start of the traditional fireworks high above the Baie Des Anges. At about 11 P.M., Bouhlel turned left onto the Promenade des Anglais and over the next three minutes, proceeded to run over as many people as he could. It only took four minutes before French police managed to shoot and kill him, but that was all it took for him to kill and injure dozens of innocent people. The death toll currently stands at 84.

It goes without saying that our hearts are broken for the families who lost their loved ones because of this despicable attack. There’s absolutely no room for this kind of evil in this world and we are one with everybody else in praying for those who lost their lives and those battling for theirs in the hospitals.
