Chevy Booth in Chicago to be Filled With Special Edition Models
The is just days away from kicking off, and outside of a small handful of models that have been confirmed, what will actually debut at the show has remained mostly a mystery thus far. More recently, we found out that would be debuting a new that is based on the while is said to be bringing a But, what’s more interesting is that is planning to bring a total of nine models to Chicago this year. Word comes from Automotive News, which claims the word came from Chevy spokesman Monte Doran. All nine special edition models will carry the Redline name, but as to what models will get that treatment, all we know is the list includes “cars, and utilities.”
Last year’s brought about the and but they weren’t the first to get the name. Years ago, the now dead Saturn brand gave the Redline series name to the Saturn Vue and even the Saturn Sky. So what production models will get the Redline treatment this year? Apparently, nobody outside of Chevy knows for sure, but you can bet the and will get the treatment, as will the new and maybe even the I would put money on the and getting the Redline treatment as well, but what will the other two models be? The and from SEMA were just so they could make up the remaining slots. Then again, Chevy could give the a Redline badge and maybe even the Spark or
For those of you who don’t know about the Redline Series, they are purely cosmetic and usually come in the form of a dark primary finish with red accents. Some may be a lighter color outside with red accents while the interior is black and red. Either way, none of the special editions will get any powertrain upgrades, or anything else special aside from some unique accenting. But, as long as the price is right, then a cosmetically enhanced special edition isn’t all that bad.
